outdoor leadership Experience (OLE)The OLE fills the entry-level niche for people curious about outdoor leadership and education who have little to no experience. The course offers an abbreviated exposure to the WEA 6+1 with role modeling of field leadership and instruction, and participants receive an annual membership and certificate of participation. As the most accessible gateway to the WEA professional training, the OLE is an excellent opportunity for participants to explore the leadership side of an outdoor experience. FIELD EXPERIENCEThe OLE course requires a minimum of three consecutive days in the field (overnight) where the WEA approach to outdoor leadership (the 6+1) is modeled by the instructor. Course content includes a brief history of Outdoor Leadership, including but not limited to the role of the WEA. Course costs vary by provider, location, and activities. CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETIONThe OLE participant receives a range of benefits beyond exposure to a quality outdoor leader and role model and the WEA 6+1. Once the course is registered with the National Office, participants also receive a certificate of completion and a one-year membership in the WEA at the Associate level (a $50 value). |
