This year’s conference theme focuses on examining the changing landscape of wilderness education in the context of the WEA 6+1 Educational Components. Wilderness education and outdoor leadership course delivery practices must keep pace with a changing society including an increased use of virtual learning and technology, increased focus on environmental integration and place-based education, programming in suburban settings, and supporting transformational experiences in shortened course durations, all with more intentional focus on diversity and inclusion.
Join us at the 2021 ICOL as we collectively give intellectual energy to these topics and explore ways to support and shape wilderness education in a changing world.
