Special Issue–A Critical Exploration of Evidence-Based Practice in Organized Camping, Part II From the Guest Editors “We are excited to share the second of two special issues in the Journal of Outdoor Recreation, Education, and Leadership focused on evidence-based practices in organized camping. When we started this project, our goal was to highlight the outstanding research and thought pieces that bring new light to the field and provide practitioners and academicians alike relevant and useable information. "Yet little did we realize that the special issues would also be a beacon of light due to the need to navigate and live alongside COVID-19. After a year in which camps and camping were significantly impacted by the pandemic, we view the content of this special issue with a slightly different lens—one of optimism, opportunity, and comfort… This second special issue celebrates what camp can do so well—bringing focus to what is important. "We have curated this special issue through these lenses: COVID-19; mental, emotional and physical health; camper development; environmental safety, staff development; camper support across the calendar year and many more. We hope you enjoy the four regular papers, three research notes, and one commentary included in this special issue of the journal.” Andrew Leary, Ron Ramsing, Eddie Hill. |
